Jac Reed is a Senior Lecturer in Criminology and Forensic Studies at the University of Portsmouth's School of Criminology and Criminal Justice, part of the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences. Previously a Forensic Scene Investigator with West Midlands Police (2004–2014), she transitioned to academia with a focus on wildlife crime and conservation education.
- Research Focus: Wildlife Crime Forensics, Illegal Wildlife Trade (IWT), Environmental Justice, and immersive learning methodologies.
- Education: M.Sc. in Crime Science, Investigation and Intelligence from the University of Portsmouth (2015–2017).
Her work bridges criminology with ecological justice, emphasizing collaboration between law enforcement and conservationists. She co-developed a gelatine technology method for IWT investigations (2017) and contributed to CITES documentation. Active in global initiatives like the Wildlife Crime Leadership Initiative and Hydra Foundation's immersive training programs.
Recent Activities: Presented at INTERPOL’s 29th Wildlife Crime Law Enforcement Symposium (London) and the International e-Conference on Wildlife Forensics (India, 2022). Involved in training programs for wildlife rangers in Benin and Middle Eastern security agents.
