Jaamac Hassan Hire is an Associate Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering within the Electronics and Photonics school at Aarhus University. His research focuses on structural health monitoring, corrosion detection, and energy harvesting technologies for infrastructure diagnostics. He leads projects like DIGIMON (2025) and CorroSense (2023–2027), which aim to develop self-powered corrosion monitoring systems and smart embedded sensors. His work addresses global infrastructure challenges, including rust-related costs.
Research interests include electromechanical impedance techniques, wireless sensor networks, and low-power embedded systems for civil engineering applications. Key contributions include optimizing PZT patch sensors for corrosion detection and developing energy-harvesting solutions for underwater tunnels.
His publications emphasize practical applications of sensors in infrastructure, combining electrical engineering principles with materials science. Current projects focus on self-sustaining monitoring systems and reducing maintenance costs through smart materials.
He advises no listed students but collaborates on major grants including the CorroSense project. Office located at Aarhus N, 5125-204.
