Dr. J. Adair serves as a Senior Instructor in the Department of English, Fine Arts & Communications at The Citadel's School of Humanities & Social Sciences. She has been a valued member of the department since 2008.
Dr. Adair's educational background includes:
- Ph.D. in English from the University of South Carolina
- M.A. in English from the University of South Carolina
- B.A. in English from the University of South Florida
Her research and teaching focus centers on the Early Modern Era and British Literature. In response to The Citadel's evolving educational needs, Dr. Adair has expanded her expertise to develop and teach writing-intensive courses on specialized topics including the literature of war and strategies for cultivating resilience in the post-COVID world. Her work bridges traditional literary scholarship with contemporary societal challenges, providing cadets with both historical perspective and practical tools for navigating modern complexities.
