J. (Ko) de Ridder is a Professor of Comparative Public Management at the Faculty of Law, University of Groningen. He holds a VIDE chair for administrative oversight and contributes to interdisciplinary research bridging law, public administration, and social sciences.

His research focuses on intergovernmental relations, administrative oversight, and comparative public governance, with regional expertise in the Netherlands, Tanzania, and the USA. Publications span public-private partnerships, local government reforms, and legal-compliance frameworks.
