J Anna Cabot

J Anna Cabot is a Clinical Associate Professor and Immigration Clinic Director at the University of Houston Law Center. She also serves as Assistant Dean of Clinical Programs. Her work bridges immigration law, gender-based violence, and international legal frameworks, with a focus on clinical pedagogy and migrant rights.

Professor Cabot’s research explores intersections of gender, cultural difference, and global migration, alongside empirical studies of asylum law and expert witness testimony. Her recent publication addresses procedural standards in fear-of-return immigration claims, reflecting her expertise in crisis-responsive legal education.

She has received the Fulbright Scholarship for mathematical sciences research in India and has practiced immigration law at the Center for Gender and Refugee Studies and Las Americas Immigrant Advocacy Center. Her career includes leadership roles in appellate litigation, policy challenges, and refugee advocacy.
