János Fodor is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Library and Information Science, Department of Information Science, Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE). His work focuses on digitization, digital humanities, network culture, and social cohesion in smart cities, with a strong emphasis on content service and information organization.

His research explores the intersection of libraries, digital cultural heritage, and urban social structures. He co-authored studies on digital collection development in educational contexts and designed projects like the András Fodor Network Lifetime Achievement Publishing initiative.
