Dr. Işık Altunal is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Business Administration at Kütahya Dumlupınar University's Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. He holds a PhD in Business Administration from Kütahya Dumlupınar University (2015-2019), a Master's in Accounting (2012-2015), and a Bachelor's in Accounting Education from Gazi University (2008-2012). His research focuses on accounting practices, corporate governance, fraud risk analysis, and digital transformation in accounting education. He has authored/co-authored multiple books and over 36 publications.
Research interests include financial accounting, cost accounting, organizational ethics, and the integration of technology into accounting education. Notable projects include analyzing fraud risk factors in Istanbul Stock Exchange firms and exploring corporate social responsibility through network analysis. Awards include the TÜBİTAK National PhD Scholarship and academic excellence awards from Gazi University.
He has held roles such as Erasmus Coordinator Assistant, Farabi Coordinator, and Department Deputy Head. His teaching duties include courses like Computerized Accounting, International Accounting Standards, and Cost Accounting. Projects have examined strategic business practices, ethical climates, and the impact of R&D expenditures on profitability. Current research trends emphasize digital tools in accounting and metaverse applications in education.
