Izar Capel Berdiell is a Researcher at the Center for Materials Science and Nanotechnology (University of Oslo), specializing in zeolite catalysis, spin-crossover materials, and materials characterization. Their work combines theoretical and experimental approaches to study catalyst deactivation, coordination chemistry, and advanced diffraction techniques.
- Education:
- PhD in Inorganic Chemistry and Coordination (University of Leeds, 2016-2019)
- M.Sc. in Industrial Chemistry (UAB, Spain, 2014-2015)
Current projects include TomoCAT (X-ray diffraction tomography for catalyst tracking) and FUNCY-SSB (functional coatings for solid-state batteries). Recent publications focus on zeolite flexibility, methylation reactions, and spin-state distortions.
Scientific Awards:
- J.B. Cohen Prize for Chemistry (2020)
- Research Mobility Grant by Royal Society of Chemistry (2018)
Key collaborations include work with ICMol (University of Valencia) and IESL-FORTH (Greece). Techniques employed: XRD, neutron diffraction, SEM/EDX, and NMR.
