Izabella Kanó is an Associate Professor at the University of Szeged's Faculty of Economics, Department of Theoretical Economics. She holds a PhD in economics (2012) and habilitation (2018) from the same institution, with dual expertise in mathematics and economics. Since 2019, she serves as Deputy Head of the Institute of Economics and Economic Development and Head of the Theoretical Economics Department.

Her research focuses on econometric methods, territorial inequality measurement, spatial economic analysis, and entropy-based economic indicators. She has contributed to numerous research projects including digitalization-era territorial inequalities (2022-present) and sustainable societal development projects (EFOP-3.6.2-16-2017-00007). She teaches econometrics, macroeconomics, microeconomics (including in foreign languages), and stochastic processes at undergraduate and doctoral levels.
Scientific awards include the 2011 MTA Szegedi Akadémiai Bizottság Ifjúsági Pályázat II. díj. She participates in international academic networks like ERSA and RSAI, and contributes to university governance through roles in the Equal Opportunities Committee (2020-present) and Faculty Council (2017-present).
