Izabela Mironowicz

Dr. Hab. Eng. Arch. Izabela Mironowicz serves as a Professor at the Department of Urban and Regional Planning within the Faculty of Architecture at Gdańsk University of Technology. Her current work focuses on transformative urban planning approaches addressing planetary crises. She actively contributes to international academic discourse through publications and professional engagements.

Her research centers on urban transformation under degrowth paradigms, examining how cities can adapt to ecological limits while maintaining social equity. Key interests include reimagining planning systems, analyzing legal frameworks, and developing educational models for future urban planners. Her work emphasizes participatory governance and challenges conventional development narratives through critical spatial analysis.

Recent publications reveal consistent output in high-impact journals like Urban Design International and Bulletin of Geography, demonstrating evolving focus from pandemic spatial impacts (2021) to fundamental restructuring of planning systems (2024-2025).
