Izabela Kujawa is an Assistant Professor at the University of Gdańsk, Faculty of Languages, Institute of German Philology, where she heads the Division of German Language and Translation Studies. She is also the Head of the Text and Discourse Research Team at the University of Gdańsk. Dr. Kujawa is an active researcher in text and discourse linguistics, with a focus on political and media linguistics, particularly analyzing right-wing populism in political discourse.
Her educational background includes:
- Master's degree in German Philology from the University of Gdańsk
- PhD studies in Linguistics from the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn
- Postgraduate studies in Project Management from the Higher School of Banking in Gdańsk
- Doctorate in German Linguistics (2014) with dissertation 'Der politische Diskurs als Gegenstand der linguistischen Analyse. Am Beispiel der Integrationsdebatte in Deutschland 2006-2010'
Dr. Kujawa's research focuses on text and discourse linguistics, politolinguistics, and media linguistics. She has developed expertise in analyzing political discourse, particularly the rhetoric and strategies of right-wing populist parties in election campaigns and speeches. Her work examines how language constructs worldviews, political narratives, and emotional appeals in contemporary political communication. She also investigates business communication and the teaching of German as a foreign language for business contexts.
Her recent publications demonstrate a clear trajectory toward analyzing populist political rhetoric, especially right-wing populism in European contexts. The articles show sophisticated analysis of political speeches, election campaigns, and media representation of political ideas. Her work bridges theoretical linguistics with practical applications in understanding contemporary political communication and its impact on society.

She has led numerous research and teaching projects funded by EU resources, including developing business German teaching materials and organizing guest lecture series.
Dr. Kujawa leads the Text and Discourse Research Team at the University of Gdańsk and has been instrumental in establishing the business-oriented German language specialization at the Institute of German Philology. She actively collaborates with external stakeholders including major international companies, organizing workshops and seminars on business communication.
