Prof. Dr. Ivor Janković is an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Anthropology, University of Wyoming, and a senior scientific advisor with tenure at the Institute for Anthropological Research in Croatia. With expertise in prehistoric archaeology and biological anthropology, his work focuses on hominin evolution, Pleistocene human adaptations, and cultural dispersal patterns.
- Education: PhD (2009) and associate professor (2015) in prehistoric archaeology from the University of Zagreb; MA (2003) from Northern Illinois University.
- Research: Analyzes Neandertal morphology, Late Pleistocene hunter-gatherer societies, and cultural boundaries in Eastern Europe, with projects spanning Croatia, France, and international collaborations.
- Leadership: Leads the BioAntroPop project (2024–2027) and co-directed excavations at Ljubićeva pećina, Abri Kontija, and other key sites.
- Awards: Recipient of the Dragutin Gorjanović-Kramberger and Josip Brunšmid medals; funded by Croatian Science Foundation, ERC grants, and COST Actions.
- Outreach: Co-authored exhibitions at Zagreb’s Archaeological Museum and participated in documentaries on Neandertal heritage.
