Ivica Kisić is a Full Professor at the Department of General Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Zagreb. He specializes in agroecology with a focus on soil protection, organic agriculture, urban agriculture, and remediation of polluted soil.
- Education: PhD in Agroecology (1995-1998) on water erosion impacts, MSc in Agroecology (1989-1992) on soil capabilities, and BSc in Agricultural Sciences (1982-1987) on irrigation.
Research Interests: His work addresses soil conservation challenges through
- Organic agriculture systems
- Urban soil quality assessment
- Phytoremediation of contaminated soils
- Climate-smart soil management
- Water erosion mitigation
- Land-use planning for disaster risk reduction
Scientific Projects: He has coordinated major initiatives like Creating Climate-Smart Soils (Croatian Science Foundation, 2023-2027) and Impact of Open Fires on Soil Quality (Croatian Science Foundation, 2018-2022). He contributed to EU-funded projects like RECOAL (2005-2007) and JICA/JST collaborations in Japan (2013) and Hungary (2016).
Teaching: Professor Kisić teaches courses including Soil Conservation, Global Ecology, and Sustainable Land Management. He has also engaged in international educational collaborations like the EU program Lifelong Learning for Sustainable Agriculture (2013-2016).
