Ivana Tucak is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law of the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, specializing in legal theory, human rights, and bioethics. She holds a PhD in Law from the same institution (2010), an LL.M. from the University of Zagreb (2006), and a BA in Law from the University of Osijek (2001). Her academic roles include serving as editor-in-chief of the Pravni vjesnik journal since 2017 and vice-president of the Croatian Association for Legal and Social Philosophy.
Her research focuses on legal theory, constitutional rights, medical ethics, and gender issues. Notable works include analyses of abortion law, vaccination policies, and bioethical dilemmas. She has contributed to over 40 publications, including books and edited volumes on legal theory and human rights. Her recent work addresses the intersections of law and bioethics in public health crises, such as the impact of the pandemic on abortion access and ethical considerations in vaccination mandates.
Ivana teaches courses on legal theory, ethics, and bioethics at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including doctoral studies. She has held visiting lecturer positions in Serbia and Italy. Awards include recognition from Osijek-Baranja County for promoting local self-governance.
