Ivana Pajić-Lijaković

Dr. Ivana Pajić-Lijaković serves as a Research Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy, University of Belgrade, with continuous academic engagement since 1989. Her work bridges biochemical engineering and biotechnology through advanced computational modeling of cellular systems.

Her research focuses on:

• Modeling and optimization of bioprocesses in biotechnology, biomedical engineering, and food production
• Rheological characterization of bio-composites (polymer matrices with colloidal particles and immobilized cells)
• Phase boundary effects in cellular environments
• Mechanics of erythrocyte membranes under osmotic/thermal stress

Analysis of her 2015-2018 publications reveals a cohesive research trajectory centered on multi-scale modeling of cell-membrane interactions, with emphasis on erythrocyte deformation dynamics and immobilized cell systems in bioreactors. This work has direct applications in drug delivery systems (e.g., alginate-based encapsulation) and food engineering.
