Ivan Mijakovic

Ivan Mijakovic is a Professor at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability, part of the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), and affiliated with the DTU Microbes Initiative. His research focuses on bacterial signal transduction, microbiology, and biotechnology applications, with contributions to sustainable development goals. Key areas include nanomedicine, antibiotic resistance mechanisms, and systems biology.

Research interests encompass microbiological processes, biochemistry of bacterial signaling pathways, and the development of innovative biotechnological solutions. Ongoing projects explore cancer therapy using nanomaterials, eco-friendly wound dressings, and genomic analysis of pathogenic microbes.

Supervision includes 5 PhD students in projects such as protein production optimization in Bacillus strains, bioconversion of linoleic acid, and proteome dynamics of bacterial pathogens. He has authored over 155 publications and leads 26 active/recent projects.

Lab affiliations include the Center for Biosustainability and collaborations under the DTU Microbes Initiative, fostering interdisciplinary research in microbial systems and nanotechnology.
