Ivan Kitanovski, born 18 September 1986 in Bitola, is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies (FEIT) of Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, North Macedonia. Since 2009 he has been continuously affiliated with the faculty, initially as a junior research and teaching assistant, and he currently teaches courses such as user interfaces, Internet programming, visualization, virtual reality, object-oriented programming, and structural programming while maintaining weekly online office hours.
His academic journey began at the same institution, where he earned a Bachelor of Engineering in 2009 with an exceptional average grade of 9.77/10 for his thesis on “Content-based image retrieval using relevance feedback”. He is presently enrolled in the second-degree (Master) programme, working on his master’s thesis titled “Techniques for improving the efficiency of content-based retrieval systems in medicine”.
His research focuses broadly on Computer Science and Information Systems, with an emphasis on content-based image retrieval, medical informatics, human–computer interaction, and virtual reality. These interests stem from both his undergraduate thesis and his ongoing master’s research, indicating a clear trajectory toward improving multimedia retrieval in clinical applications.
