Itziar Castello-Molina

Itziar Castello-Molina is Reader in Sustainability and Digital Economy at Bayes Business School, City St George’s, University of London, and Head of the Social Purpose Group. She is also Program Director for the MSc in ESG in Management and Finance. Her work bridges sustainability, CSR, and digital transformation, with a focus on how discourses around climate and social change are shaped in digital and institutional contexts.

Research Focus:
Her research explores how sustainability and climate change narratives are constructed and disseminated, especially via social media, social movements, and international organizations. She applies theories of deliberation, identity, legitimacy, and emotion to understand how social change is mobilized. Her work has been published in top journals such as Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Business Venturing, and Business Ethics Quarterly.

Grants & Funding:
She has led or co-led research grants totaling over £1.5 million, reflecting her strong record in securing competitive funding.

Scientific Awards:

• Named 47th in the Financial Times Top 100 for significant societal contribution in management (2015–2019)

Editorial & Advisory Roles:
She serves as Associate Editor for Business & Society and is a member of the Alan Turing Institute’s Social Data and Behavioural Data Science groups. She has consulted for major corporations including Lafarge, Suez, Telefonica, GE, IBM, 3M, Manpower, Cemex, and FedEx on sustainability and ESG strategies.
