Itohan M. Idumwonyi serves as Assistant Professor of Religious Studies in the Department of Religious Studies at Gonzaga University's College of Arts and Sciences. An interdisciplinary scholar, her work bridges African Religions, African Diaspora Religions, African Studies, Sociology of Religion, African Womanist Theology, and Religion and Gender through rigorous ethnographic exploration.

Her research employs African-womanist religious thought and Gender Politics frameworks to analyze gender inclusivity in religious contexts, particularly examining Nigerian Pentecostalism and transnational gender dynamics in African Diaspora religions. Current projects include the book manuscript "Policing the Gender Gap in Nigerian Pentecostalism: Interrogating a Shifting Goal Post" (under review) and research on "Dynamics of Gender Relations in African and African Diaspora Religions in the United States".
Dr. Idumwonyi's scholarship has secured generous research funding resulting in over fourteen publications. Her pedagogical approach challenges students to transcend conventional boundaries while preparing them for engagement in diverse global settings.
Prior to Gonzaga, she contributed to the African Women Empowerment Guild (AWEG) as Research Fellow and Program Officer, and taught for over ten years at Nigeria's University of Benin.
