Itamar Mor is a J.L. Doob Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he conducts research in algebraic topology.
His academic background includes:
- PhD in Mathematics from Queen Mary University of London, supervised by Behrang Noohi and Lennart Meier
- Postdoctoral position at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in Bonn
Dr. Mor specializes in chromatic homotopy theory, investigating stable homotopy types through chromatic filtration, and has recently expanded his work to unstable homotopy theory. His research often involves Brauer and Picard groups in the context of K(n)-local spectra, utilizing profinite Galois descent techniques to address structural questions.
His two 2024 publications focus on the Brauer groups of K(1) and K(n)-local spectra, advancing the understanding of duality and descent in chromatic homotopy theory. These works reflect a trend of applying sophisticated algebraic methods to homotopy-theoretic problems.
In 2024, he co-organized a reading seminar at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics with Vignesh Subramanian and Ningchuan Zhang on the paper [BSSW24], demonstrating active engagement in the mathematical community.
