Israel Abramov is a Professor of Psychology at The Graduate Center, CUNY, and affiliated with Brooklyn College. His research focuses on the visual system across the lifespan, employing psychophysical methods to explore spatio-temporal resolution, binocular functions, and color perception. He investigates correlations between visual functions and neuronal substrates, with special attention to groups like individuals with Down syndrome. Applied research includes optimizing museum lighting and analyzing archaeological artifacts through visual stylistic groupings.
Education: Ph.D., Indiana University.
Research Interests: Combining experimental and theoretical approaches, Abramov examines how visual processes reflect underlying biological mechanisms. His work bridges psychophysics with neurobiological and cognitive frameworks, addressing both fundamental and applied questions in vision science.
