Ismail Orabi, Ph.D., is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the University of New Haven's Tagliatela College of Engineering. With a career spanning over three decades, he has contributed significantly to mechanical vibrations, dynamic systems, and engineering education.
- Ph.D., Mechanical Engineering, Clarkson University
- M.S., Mechanical Engineering, SUNY Buffalo
- B.S., Mechanical Engineering, Helwan University
His research focuses on computational methods for mechanical vibrations, vibration control of space structures, and finite element analysis. He has developed learning modules to enhance conceptual understanding in engineering education.
Notable awards include a $600k NSF grant (2010), ASEE Best Paper Award (2000), and multiple NSF/industry-funded research grants. He established the NSF-sponsored Materials Testing Laboratory and AT&T-funded Engineering Multimedia Laboratory.
- NSF Grant ($600k, 2010)
- Yankee Ingenuity Initiative Grants ($300k and $100k)
- ASEE Best Paper Award (2000)
Professor Orabi has taught courses including Mechanical Vibrations, Dynamics, Thermodynamics, and Capstone Design. His work bridges theoretical dynamics with pedagogical innovation.
