Ismael Rodríguez Lara

Ismael Rodríguez Lara is a Full Professor at the Universidad de Málaga, holding a position in the Department of Economic Theory and History within the Faculty of Economics and Business Sciences. He directs the Smart Decision Lab and serves as a Research Affiliate at ESI Chapman University. His academic journey includes a Ph.D. in Economics from the Universidad de Alicante.

Research interests focus on Behavioral Economics and Experimental Economics, with emphasis on how social norms, cognitive processes, and institutional frameworks influence economic decisions. Key themes include bank runs, trust dynamics, social preferences, and game-theoretic experiments.

He has been awarded the THE – Motiva Grant and leads the Outstanding Group in Economic Theory. His contributions to academia also include the Chair in Competition Policy role and authorship of Introducción a la teoría de juegos y conducta estratégica (teaching books in Spanish). Non-academic pursuits include poetry and short fiction, reflecting interdisciplinary interests.
