Islay Gemmell is a Senior Lecturer in Epidemiology and Statistics and Deputy Programme Director for the MPH/MRes Postgraduate Programmes in Public Health and Primary Care at the University of Manchester. She is affiliated with the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health and the Division of Population Health, Health Services Research & Primary Care. Her roles include leading the Practical Statistics for Population Health course and teaching Fundamentals of Epidemiology. She holds external examiner roles at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and contributes to Research Beacons in Digital Futures.

Recent Research Focus: Her recent work includes cancer incidence studies in Uganda, antimicrobial stewardship in community pharmacies, and statistical analyses of healthcare disparities. These studies reflect her expertise in global health, epidemiological modeling, and healthcare equity.
