Prof. Islam Shyha is a Professor at the School of Computing Engineering and the Built Environment at Edinburgh Napier University. He specializes in advanced materials engineering, with a focus on nanofiber materials, biodegradable polymers, energy harvesting, and additive manufacturing. His research addresses sustainability challenges through innovations in nanocomposites, piezoelectric materials, and recycling technologies.
Key research interests include optimizing nanofiber fabrication processes (e.g., electro-blown spinning), enhancing material properties for energy storage and filtration applications, and developing biodegradable alternatives to conventional plastics.
