Isabelle Le Corff is a Professor of Film Studies at the University of Western Brittany, affiliated with the Heritage and Creation in Text and Image research laboratory (HCTI EA 4249). She serves as the head of Research Axis 1 (Spaces) within HCTI and has held various administrative positions including Deputy Director of the Arts Department and head of the L2 Arts program.
Her research focuses on Irish Cinema, Postcolonial Studies, Political Documentary Cinema, European Identity Cinemas, and Kitsch in Cinema. She has developed a distinctive approach examining Irish cinema through a postcolonial lens while exploring its relationship to European identity formation. Her work frequently analyzes regional cinema, particularly Breton and Irish representations of landscape and identity.
Prof. Le Corff's scholarly output reveals strong thematic continuity across her publications, with recurring exploration of postcolonial identity in Irish cinema, the aesthetics of kitsch in film representation, and the political dimensions of documentary filmmaking. Her recent work has increasingly focused on island representations, particularly examining Ouessant in Breton cinema, while maintaining her longstanding expertise in Irish film studies.

As an educator, Prof. Le Corff has taught Film Genres in English at Master's level, History of Cinema, European Cinemas, Film and Politics, and Documentary Cinema. She has directed numerous Master's theses in the TIL program and has been involved in teacher training through the IUFM of Brittany. Her teaching reflects her research interests, particularly in Anglophone cinemas and political documentary.
Prof. Le Corff actively participates in academic communities as a member of SAES (Society of English Studies in Higher Education), SERCIA (Society for the Study and Research of Anglophone Cinema), and SOFEIR (French Society for Irish Studies). She previously served as Secretary General of AFECCAV (French Association of Teachers and Researchers in Cinema and Audiovisual) from 2007 to 2011.
