Isabel Pavão Martins is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Lisbon, and a neurologist with expertise in Cognitive Neurosciences and Headache Disorders. She leads the Language Studies Laboratory at FMUL (Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon) and directs the Migraine Consultation at Santa Maria Hospital in Lisbon. Her administrative roles include Director of the Department of Medical Education (since 2018), Board-member of the Doctoral Programme at FMUL, and past leadership positions such as President of the Portuguese Society of Neurology (2008-2011) and President of the Pedagogical Council at FMUL (2014-2017). She has been actively involved in the European Federation of Neuropsychological Societies (2014-15).
Her research focuses on migraines, cognitive neurosciences, and language disorders, with over 100 international publications. She is committed to advancing medical education and clinical care through interdisciplinary efforts and institutional leadership roles. Professional contributions include shaping pedagogical strategies and contributing to neuroscience research trends at the intersection of clinical practice and education.
