Isabel Millán is an Associate Professor in the Department of Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at the University of Oregon, part of the College of Arts and Sciences. She earned her Ph.D. in American Culture from the University of Michigan and is currently on sabbatical during the 2025-2026 academic year.
Professor Millán's research centers on Queer, Transnational Feminist, and Critical Race Theories with specific focus on Latinx/Chicanx Studies, Children's Literature, Television, and Film. Her work extends to Comics, Science Fiction and Fantasy, and Ephemera Studies, examining how marginalized communities create cultural spaces and representations. She approaches these fields through interdisciplinary lenses that connect literary analysis with social justice concerns, particularly focusing on queer of color worldmaking in children's media.
