Prof. Dr. Isabel Heinemann is a Professor of Modern History at the University of Bayreuth, holding a chair in the Faculty of Cultural Studies. Her academic journey includes a Magister Artium from the Universities of Mainz, Bourgogne, and Freiburg, followed by a PhD (2001) and Habilitation (2018) focusing on Nazi racial policies and family values in 20th-century America.
Her research spans National Socialism and its aftermath, gender history, and reproductive politics. Key projects include leading the Emmy Noether-funded 'Familienwerte im gesellschaftlichen Wandel' and the SFB 1150 subproject on reproductive decision-making in Germany and the US. She also explores Germanization policies under Nazism and modern family dynamics.
Publications highlight her expertise in Holocaust studies, transatlantic eugenics, and gender roles in corporate history. She has held roles at the Universities of Freiburg, Münster, and Cologne, contributing to academia through grants and interdisciplinary networks like 'Geschlecht • Macht • Staat.'
