Dr. Isa Bertram is an Assistant Professor at the Utrecht School of Governance (USG), part of Utrecht University's Faculty of Law, Economics, and Governance. Her work bridges public administration and social psychology, focusing on citizen-government dynamics and civil servant stereotypes. She holds a PhD (2025) titled The Faces of Bureaucracy, supervised by prof. dr. Lars Tummers and dr. Robin Bouwman. Prior roles include a Research Master in Social and Health Psychology (2017–2019) and a Liberal Arts Bachelor (2013–2016) at University College Utrecht.
- Research Themes: Civil servant stereotypes, governance effectiveness, and public trust.
- Key Projects: Collaboration with USG consultancy on governance challenges.
Her research highlights how stereotypes shape citizen perceptions and satisfaction. Recent articles analyze cross-national public sector stereotypes and the psychological impacts of stereotype threats on public employees. She received the PMRC Best Poster Award (2022) for her contributions.
Teaching involvement includes the Governance and Policy course. She actively engages in academic activities such as invited talks at institutions like Fundação Getúlio Vargas (Brazil) and consultancies with Dutch governmental bodies. Her work also addresses parliamentary social safety and neurodiversity in policy contexts.
