Irène Elizabeth Vogel Chevroulet

Irène Vogel Chevroulet is a Lecturer at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) with dual appointments in the College of Humanities and the School of Architecture, Civil and Environmental Engineering. She specializes in architectural history and Japanese-Western cultural exchange.

Education:

Research: Her work explores the circulation of Japanese architectural principles in Western design since 1870, focusing on sustainability, landscape interpretation, and cultural hybridity. Current projects examine Dimitris Pikionis' landscapes and Isamu Noguchi's influence.

Publications: Recent articles analyze transcultural design dialogues, with recurring themes in Japanese garden aesthetics, modernism's evolution through Eastern influences, and critical reassessments of European interpretations of Japanese spaces.
