Irvin Hunt

Irvin Hunt is Associate Professor of English and African American Studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, holding additional roles as Dean's Fellow in Inclusive Excellence and Conrad Humanities Scholar. His research examines intersections of African American literature, social movements, and mutual aid practices.

Research explores Black cooperative movements through historical analysis and cultural production, with focus on mutual aid networks, political aesthetics, and activism-literature relationships. Current book projects address contemporary Black women's poetry and urban narratives.

Recent publications demonstrate consistent focus on Black social movements and literary representations of systemic change, employing critical race theory, historical contextualization, and activist methodologies.
