Iris Nemec serves as Senior Lecturer and Researcher at University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien since 2010, maintaining active roles in international organizations including the Association for the Advancement of Assistive Technology in Europe (AAATE), International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP), and Association for the Advancement of Biomedical Engineering in Europe since 2025. She concurrently holds a board position at the Austrian Society for Biomedical Engineering (ÖGBMT) since 2012.
Her academic foundation includes:
- Master studies in Health and Rehabilitation Engineering at UAS Technikum Wien
- Bachelor studies in Sports Equipment Technology at UAS Technikum Wien
Nemec's research centers on Rehabilitation Engineering and Prosthetics development with strong emphasis on Accessibility standards. Her expertise spans Biosignal Analysis and Motion Analysis within Assistive Technologies, directly applied through her current leadership of Vienna's Barrierfree Design for Teaching and Learning (BERTL) project since 2022. She has organized the MedTec Summer Academy annually since 2013.
