Irina Sergeyeva

Irina Sergeyeva is an Associate Teaching Professor in Nursing and Biological Sciences at Michigan Technological University (MTU), located in Dow 726. She holds a MSN in Health Care Education from the University of Phoenix, BSN in Accounting from Moscow Financial University (Russia), and additional certifications in nursing from Gogebic Community College. Her research interests focus on teaching methodologies, simulation-based learning, Bloom’s Taxonomy, international educational experiences, and chronic disease management. She developed a study abroad course in London exploring chronic disease management through a British cultural lens.

Her professional background includes over eight years as a nursing educator and academic advisor, alongside community service as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) and roles in diverse healthcare settings. Irina actively contributed to the UP Health System – Portage Board of Trustees, advancing healthcare quality. She received the Rising Star Faculty Award for contributions to teaching and service. Her work emphasizes integrating technology and cultural perspectives into healthcare education, as seen in her co-authored article on educational technology’s impact on learning outcomes.

Irina maintains an open-door policy for students, families, and community members, fostering engagement in healthcare education and quality improvement initiatives.
