Irina Alex Shklovski

Irina Alex Shklovski is Professor of Human-Centred Computing at the University of Copenhagen’s Department of Computer Science (DIKU). She leads interdisciplinary research examining ethics in technology development, privacy, social networks, self-tracking, IoT governance, and the societal implications of generative AI.

Research focus:
Shklovski’s work interrogates how everyday technologies become “creepy” and how users normalise discomfort around pervasive data collection. Her recent projects include VIRT-EU, co-designing ethical interventions into European IoT development, and studies on fact-checking tools, hybrid-work symmetry, moral stress among developers, and artistic explorations of human-LLM relationships.

She publishes across premier venues such as CHI, CSCW, ACM TOCHI, and interdisciplinary journals, and teaches interaction design, mobile computing, VR, and advanced topics in human-centred computing to both bachelor’s and master’s students at UCPH.
