Irene Kaufmann Cotelo

Irene Kaufmann Cotelo is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Modern Languages at the University of Mississippi. She holds a B.A. in Music (1985) and M.A. in Modern Languages (2011) from the University of Mississippi, along with a Master of Music in Applied Music from the University of Texas at Austin (1988). Her teaching focuses on integrating conversational Spanish through innovative methods like 'el Café de los Lunes,' a weekly student gathering, and community engagement.

Her expertise spans Spanish education and music pedagogy, emphasizing real-world language application. She has received the 2018 Outstanding Instructor of the Year award from the College of Liberal Arts.
