Irene Gkiouleka is a part-time PhD Student and Graduate Research Fellow at The Cyprus Institute's Energy, Environment & Water Research Center (EEWRC). She is enrolled in the Energy, Environment and Atmospheric Sciences PhD program since March 2023, under the supervision of Professor Theodoros Zachariadis. Her research focuses on integrating climate and energy science with economics, behavioral aspects, and finance dynamics through the development of energy systems models and policy analysis.
Her current work contributes to the DIAMOND project, specifically the CLEWS-EU framework, which expands the global Climate, Land, Energy, and Water Systems (CLEWS) model across EU countries. She collaborates with Dr. Constantinos Taliotis' team at CyI to enhance interdisciplinary approaches in energy-climate modeling.
Research interests include advancing methodologies for policy-relevant integrated assessment models and exploring systemic interdependencies between environmental, socio-economic, and financial dimensions of climate change mitigation.
