Irene Epifanio is a Full Professor at Universitat Jaume I in Castelló, Spain, since March 2021, and Senior Research Fellow at valgrAI - Valencian Graduate School and Research Network of Artificial Intelligence. She earned her Ph.D. in Statistics from Universitat de València in 2002 and has held academic and research positions since 1996.

Her research focuses include statistical learning, functional data analysis, and computer vision, with recent emphasis on gender equality in STEM. She leads a research group granted excellence status by Generalitat Valenciana through the PROMETEO program (2024).

Irene actively participates in gender equality initiatives as Presidenta of CEMat's Women in Mathematics Commission and member of various committees including Real Sociedad Matemática Española and CWS Promoting Positive Professional Environments (2020-2021).
