Dr. Ira Plein is a Researcher at the University of Trier's Faculty II (Media Studies) since 2019. Her work focuses on the history of visual media, public relations/propaganda, and image analysis. She holds a dual PhD from the Universities of Luxembourg and Trier, supervised by Prof. Karin Priem and Prof. Andreas Tacke. Her research examines Luxembourg's interwar media, industrial representations, and labor movement imagery.
Education: M.A. in Art History from the University of Trier (2013), with a thesis on Alice Lex-Nerlinger's politically motivated works. Professional background includes photography training (HWK Trier) and media design (IHK Cologne).
Research Interests: Cross-media discourses, corporate film analysis, historical iconology, and the intersection of art and social movements. She has explored topics like Luxembourg steel industry propaganda and industrial visual culture.
Grants & Projects: Co-led the Luxembourg National Research Fund-funded FAMOSO project (2014-2019) on modern societal fabrication. Visiting scholar at TU Dortmund University's Cultural Anthropology of Textiles department (2016).
Teaching: Leads modules in Media and Communication Studies, including visual media analysis and PR history.
