Ioannis Papadogiannakis is Senior Lecturer in Patristics at King's College London, jointly appointed in the Departments of Theology and Religious Studies and Classics.
Research examines:
- Formation of Christian identity in late antiquity
- Interreligious debates in eastern Mediterranean societies
- Transmission of Greek philosophical traditions
- Apologetic literature (6th-8th centuries)
Principal investigator for the ERC project 'Defining Belief and Identities in the Eastern Mediterranean' (€1.5M grant). Current book project analyzes religious disputation texts across Greek, Syriac, and Arabic traditions.
