Ioannis Litsios is a Lecturer in Finance and Economics at the Plymouth Business School, part of the University of Plymouth's Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Business. He holds a PhD from the University of Essex and has held academic roles at institutions including the University of Macedonia (Assistant Professor/Senior Lecturer), University of Essex, University of Bradford, and the University of Plymouth. He serves as an Associate Editor for the International Journal of Finance and Economics and has contributed to the Global Economic Policy Group.
His research focuses on international trade, international finance, and dynamic open economy macroeconomics, with emphases on exchange rate determination, current account imbalances, and DSGE modelling. His work aims to address policy-oriented issues such as small open economies' competitiveness, trade imbalances in the Eurozone, and the effects of monetary/fiscal policies. Publications appear in top journals like the Journal of International Money & Finance, Economic Inquiry, and Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions & Money.
Teaching responsibilities include courses on international economics, financial economics, macroeconomics, and financial modelling. Teaching interests span international finance, macroeconomics, and financial markets/institutions.
