Ioana Smith

Ioana Smith, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of the Division of Digestive and Liver Diseases. She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in gastroenterology and joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2018.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree with highest honors in biology from Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), Atlanta
• Medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine, Charlottesville
• Internal medicine residency at the University of Alabama-Birmingham
• Fellowship in gastroenterology at UT Southwestern Medical Center

Research Interests: Dr. Smith focuses on Crohn's Disease, esophageal conditions, pancreatic conditions, and colonoscopy. Her work has yielded peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, abstracts, reviews, and case reports.
