Ioana Radu

Ioana Radu is a Professor and Director of the Master's and Doctoral Programs in Indigenous Studies at the School of Indigenous Studies, Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue (UQAT). Her work focuses on Indigenous health, food sovereignty, territorial governance, and decolonial methodologies. She leads research initiatives in partnership with Indigenous communities in Quebec and beyond.

Her research emphasizes collaborative approaches, such as the Minowé Clinic at the Val-d’Or Native Friendship Centre, which integrates Indigenous wellness practices into urban health services. Radu’s studies highlight the intersections of cultural security, oral history, and environmental stewardship in Indigenous communities.

Notable contributions include work on Cree Nation food sovereignty, urban Indigenous histories in the Abitibi region, and decolonial pedagogical frameworks. Her projects often involve community-driven solutions to social inequities and health disparities rooted in colonial systems.

Radu has advised numerous community-based projects and serves as a key academic leader in Indigenous studies at UQAT, fostering intergenerational knowledge transfer through innovative research and educational programs.
