Associate Professor Inês Martina Lersch serves at the Faculty of Architecture, Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Brazil, as Coordinator of the Urbanism Department since 2019 and Professor/Researcher at the Graduate Program in Urban and Regional Planning since 2015.
Her educational qualifications include a Bachelor's in Architecture and Urbanism (1998), Master's in Civil Engineering (2003), and PhD in Urban and Regional Planning (2014), all from UFRGS.
Her research centers on Urban Planning, Planning History, and Architecture and Urban Heritage, with critical focus on Germanic urban influences in Brazil, social housing in central areas, and participatory planning methodologies. Her work integrates historical analysis with contemporary community engagement practices.
Publication trends reveal consistent examination of Porto Alegre case studies through rhetorical, historical, and participatory lenses, emphasizing heritage value systems, emerging urban practices, and technical extension in popular housing contexts.
