Inna Melnykovska is an Assistant Professor in Comparative Political Economy at the Political Science Department of the Central European University (CEU). She holds a PhD in Political Science from the Free University of Berlin (2016), an M.A. in International Relations from Taras Shevchenko National University, and a Specialist degree in Economics from Ternopil Academy of National Economy. Prior to CEU, she was a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University’s Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies and held research positions at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy and the Universities of Kiel, Giessen, and Berlin.
Her research focuses on global-local interactions shaping political regimes and economies in developing countries, with specialization in Eastern Europe and Eurasia. Key interests include state-business relations, crony capitalism, and the impact of regional economic integration initiatives driven by the EU, Russia, and China. Her current book project examines global capital mobility’s effects on Russian and Ukrainian business-politics dynamics, supported by the Smith Richardson Foundation.
Inna has contributed to journals such as Journal of Common Market Studies and Europe-Asia Studies. She leads the RE-EMERGE project on refugee entrepreneurship in the EU and explores themes like NATO enlargement, institutional convergence in post-Soviet states, and energy policy governance.
