Ingun Grimstad Klepp is Professor of Clothing and Sustainability at Oslo Metropolitan University (OsloMet), affiliated with the Center for Welfare and Working Life Research and The Norwegian Institute for Consumer Research (SIFO). Her interdisciplinary research bridges technical, social, and historical approaches to textiles, focusing on clothing consumption, washing habits, and their environmental impacts.

Her work addresses sustainability through clothing lifecycle analysis, greenwashing prevention, and circular economy principles. Key projects include REDUCE (plastic reduction), WOOLUME (wool valorization), and Wasted Textiles (synthetic waste mitigation). She actively disseminates research through 113 scientific articles, 11 books, and frequent media contributions.
Recent publications explore EU textile strategies, clothing care practices, and product longevity frameworks. Her methodological approach combines ethnographic studies with environmental impact assessments, emphasizing consumer behavior's role in climate change mitigation.
Currently collaborating on wool-based plastic alternatives and clothing's social inclusion dimensions, Klepp's research informs policy processes while maintaining public engagement through popular science articles and 985 media appearances.
