Ingrid de Pauw

Ingrid de Pauw is an expert in circular and sustainable product development at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering, Delft University of Technology. She coordinates and teaches courses about sustainable and circular product design, and is also active at IDEAL&CO in product design & research to advance the transition to a circular economy.

Dr. de Pauw's educational background includes a Doctorate Degree from Delft University of Technology (2010-2015) with a thesis on 'Nature-Inspired Design – Strategies for Sustainable Product Development' and an MSc. in Industrial Design Engineering (cum laude) from the same university (1988-1994).

Her research focuses on design for the circular economy, circular product design assessment, assessing sustainability in product design, nature inspired design, and sustainable design. She explores and develops methods and tools for circular design solutions, including the assessment of circularity. With over 25 years of experience in sustainable product design and design-research projects, her expertise spans biomimicry and cradle to cradle approaches.

Her recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on developing practical tools and methodologies for circular product design and assessment. These works contribute significantly to the field of sustainable product development by providing designers with concrete approaches to implement circular economy principles across various product categories.
