Prof. Dr. Ingrid Schirmer is a faculty member at the University of Hamburg's Department of Computer Science, affiliated with the Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science and Natural Sciences. She leads the Information Technology Design and Gender Perspective (ITG) research group and focuses on socio-technical aspects of digital transformation, enterprise architecture, and gender diversity in technology. Previously, she served as Head of the Department of Computer Science (2012–2014) and initiated the Master's program in IT Management and Consulting. She actively participates in interdisciplinary initiatives like ahoi.digital and the Data Literacy Education Network.
- Education: Diploma in Computer Science (Goethe University Frankfurt, 1990), dual state teaching exams in Mathematics/Religion and Music/Religion.
- Leadership Roles: Chair of Computer Science Department, founder of ITMC program, member of Hamburg's digitalization committees.
Her research integrates gender perspectives into technology design and explores digital ecosystems. She advises on national and municipal digital initiatives, including the Innovation in Digital Equality Award jury. Beyond academia, she serves as a Reserve Lieutenant Colonel in the Bundeswehr and holds leadership roles in Lutheran church digitalization efforts.
