University of Oxfordمعرفی
Ingrid Granne is an Associate Professor and Deputy Head of Department at the Nuffield Department of Women's and Reproductive Health (NDWRH), University of Oxford. She also serves as an Honorary Consultant Gynaecologist and Sub-Specialist in Reproductive Medicine, as well as Divisional Medical Director for the Surgery, Women's and Oncology Division at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Her educational background includes:
- Graduated from the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine, University of London in 1998
- MA in Medical Law and Ethics
- DPhil in Reproductive Immunology (with Professor Ian Sargent)
- MBBS medical degree
- MRCOG (Membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists)
Professor Granne's research focuses on the female reproductive tract in health and disease, with particular emphasis on endometrial disorders that affect millions of women worldwide. Her work investigates how the endometrium - comprised of stroma, epithelium, endothelium and immune cells - changes in the menstrual cycle and responds to hormones and signaling factors. She leads research into how disruption of these cyclical endometrial signals can lead to implantation failure and recurrent pregnancy loss.
Her specific research interests include:
- Endometrial immune cells and their role in sub-fertility and recurrent miscarriage
- Interactions between seminal fluid extracellular vesicles and endometrial cells
- Embryo factors that enhance implantation
- The influence of follicular fluids on oocyte viability
- Cytokines in pathological pregnancies, particularly IL-33 and its decoy sST2 (which her team has shown is highly elevated in pre-eclampsia)
- Understanding the impact of pregnancy on long-term health
Professor Granne leads two major research initiatives: the PIP Study investigating immune profiling in IVF and miscarriage, and the OxWATCH study examining long-term health impacts of pregnancy. Her recent publications show a strong focus on reproductive immunology, endometrial biology, genetic factors in miscarriage, and the connections between pregnancy complications and long-term women's health outcomes.
She collaborates extensively with leading researchers including Professor Jan Brosens, Professor Siobhan Quenby, Professor Cecilia Lindgren, Professor Christian Becker, and Dr. Susie Kilshaw. Her research group includes Dr. Jennifer Southcombe, Ms. Mengni Shen, and Ms. Ana Kissovar.
