Inginia Genao

Inginia Genao is the Vice Dean of Equity, Inclusion and Belonging at Penn State College of Medicine and a Professor in the Department of Medicine. She holds an MD from the University of Rochester (1995) and a BS in Chemistry/Biology from Marymount College (1990). Her research focuses on healthcare equity, cultural competence in medical training, and disparities in cancer screening and primary care. She has led NIH-funded projects on cancer screening behavior among Hispanic/Latina populations and binge eating in primary care settings.

Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to quality education and good health. Notable achievements include the 2023 Dean's Award for Excellence in Teaching. Genao collaborates extensively on projects addressing health disparities, medical student development, and diversity initiatives in academic medicine.
